The model

We publish the page. You send the request. The plumber names the price.

LocalQuote SA is a lead-referral publisher, not a plumbing contractor. Everything about how we operate follows from that one fact, including the things we refuse to do.

Step by step

What happens after you press submit

Five steps, no call centre, and no price invented by anyone who has not seen the job.

  1. 01You complete six fields: name, mobile number, suburb and city, job type, and consent under POPIA. Details and email are optional but they help.
  2. 02We validate the request and store it with your consent and its timestamp, so there is a record of what you agreed to and when.
  3. 03The request goes to one plumbing business that covers your suburb. It is exclusive — we do not send the same request to several companies.
  4. 04The plumber contacts you on the number you gave, discusses the job and arranges to look at it. Emergencies are flagged as urgent when we pass the request on.
  5. 05The plumber quotes you directly. The contract for the work is between you and them; we are not a party to it and we take no cut of it.

Why exclusive

Shared leads are the reason people distrust quote sites

The standard model sells your number to four or five contractors. You get a run of calls from people who have not read your request, and each of them prices in the cost of losing to the other four.

For you

One call from someone who has your description in front of them, instead of four calls that all start from the beginning.

For the plumber

A request worth attending, because they are not competing on who dials fastest. That shows up in how carefully the job gets quoted.

For us

Fewer requests, each one worth more, and no incentive to publish a rate card we cannot stand behind.

What we do

Our side of it

  • Publish 44 city and job pages with local municipality, conditions and compliance detail.
  • Write reference guidance on standards, certificates and comparing quotes.
  • Validate quote requests and record POPIA consent with a timestamp.
  • Pass each request to a single plumbing business covering that suburb.
  • Flag emergencies as urgent when we hand the request over.
  • Delete your details when you ask us to.

What we do not do

Where we stop

  • We do not perform plumbing work or employ plumbers.
  • We do not publish prices, price ranges or rate cards.
  • We do not supervise, inspect or guarantee the work a plumber does.
  • We do not issue certificates of compliance — only a registered plumber can.
  • We do not publish reviews or ratings that we have not verified.
  • We do not claim traffic, volumes or savings figures.

Questions

How it works, in more detail

Do you charge homeowners anything?

No. Requesting a quote is free and it does not commit you to accepting anything. The plumber may charge a callout or diagnostic fee for attending — that is theirs, and you should ask what it covers before they come out.

How do you make money?

Plumbing businesses pay us for the requests we send them. That is why the request is exclusive: a business paying for a lead should not have to race four others to the phone. We do not take a percentage of the work and we have no interest in the price you are quoted.

Will my number be sold to anyone else?

No. Your request goes to one plumbing business so that they can contact you about this job. We do not sell your details to marketing lists or to other contractors.

What if the plumber never contacts me?

Email us with your reference number and we will follow it up. If nobody we work with covers your suburb, we will tell you that rather than sit on the request.

Do you check the plumbers?

We ask for a registered business and, where certification matters, PIRB registration or IOPSA membership. We are not a regulator and we do not supervise the work, so ask for the registration number yourself and verify it — that habit protects you on every job, not just ours.

Can I get more than one quote?

You are free to approach other plumbers directly, and for a large planned job that is sensible. What we will not do is hand your number to several businesses at once and call it a service.
